License
All of our templates are released under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license. This means you can download them for free and use them completely royalty-free (even commercially) as long as you keep a link back to our site on the template.
All photos used in our templates are public domain images provided by PDPhoto.org. Check out their website for more excellent public domain photos, as well as higher resolution versions of the photos in our templates.
Using our templates
Our templates are distributed in ZIP format. On most operating systems you should be able to open these kinds of files by simply double clicking on them. If not, we recommend downloading 7-Zip, which is a free appplication capable of opening ZIP files (as well as many other archive formats).
Once you've unzipped the template it's ready to edit. If you're familiar with HTML then all you'll need is a text editor. If not, you can use a WYSIWYG web authoring tool or a HTML editor. Our templates are actually designed to maximize compatibility with these kinds of tools so almost any of them will work. If you don't already have one on your computer here are a few we recommend:
- Adobe Dreamweaver (free trial)
- Nvu (free)
- Kompozer (free)
- Coffee Cup (free trial)
